Getting rich from trees

Alright, so Getting rich from trees won the poll! I guess I have to write about it now. : P

Just so you know, this won't get you into the millions with bells. This is the method I used to pay off my mortgage and get some furniture. It's great for new players who can get on wifi, and anyone who just wants to pass time and make a little money.

So here goes!

If you can get on wifi, the first thing you should do when you start a new town is get fruit. Every kind, if possible! Apples, pears, cherries, peaches, and oranges. Then, plant as many trees as you can with that fruit! I recommend chopping down any non-fruit tree and replacing it with a fruit tree. (This also guarantees that the tree will grow, if it is buried in the same spot as a previous tree was.) Now, once those trees are all grown up, plant more! Plant fruit trees until your little heart stops. Well, not really. That would be sad. But anyway, you want to be able to harvest a LOT of fruit.

Each fruit is worth 500 bells, and an entire inventory is worth 7,500 bells. So think if you fill 10 inventories with fruit and sell them to Nook, that will be 75,000 bells! Double the amount of fruit you sell, and that brings it up to 150k! Excellent. You could probably pull that off in about 15-20 minutes. This is great for paying off mortgages! Also, if you meet Joan on a Sunday and don't quite have enough bells to buy turnips, sell some fruit! Fruit really helps bring you out of an empty wallet.

Also, any trees that don't have fruit in them can have bells (usually 100 bells), furniture, or even BEES! If you can catch those bees, each sells for 4.5k and you can get usually 3 a day. Buzzzz.

Remember, the fruit regrows in just a few days, so if you harvest a section of town and leave the others, you'll have a steady income. : )

Another trick you can take advantage of is the money tree. If you have a golden shovel, which is obtained by burying a normal shovel for four days, you can bury bells in the ground and a tree will grow from them! If you're lucky, the tree will drop three times as much as you buried. For example, bury 1k, get 3k. Bury 30k, get 90k! It helps if you have lucky items in your house, or if
you follow Feng Shui. Just remember that the most you can get from any money tree is three bags of 30k each, so don't bury more than 30k!

Here's another perk to trees: BUGS. Winter is a bummer, since there are almost no insects. Spiders, bagworms, pill bugs, dung beetles, mole crickets, and bees are the most you'll see. Summer is the greatest season for bug-catching, and many of the most valuable bugs cling to trees. Most sell for at least 2k a piece, so if you can catch em, the bells will pile up quick! Coconut palm trees, which only grow near the beach, will lure the rarest beetles to your shores. They can sell for up to 12k each, so you'll definitely want to look out for them!

Having a good amount of trees in your town can also contribute to the environment. You can check at the Town Hall how the environment is doing, and adjust accordingly. If you have a perfect town for 15 days, you can get a golden watering can! These auction off at good prices at ACC (and other forums that encourage wifi interactions), and also can turn black roses into gold roses. All hybrid flowers can sell for a pretty penny over wifi. ; )

I hope I was able to inform you of some nifty bell-making methods! If you have your own method, feel free to comment! I may even add it to the post for all to see, or elaborate on anything you'd like to ask about.
